Overview
Here is what you'll learn to embody...
Easy Eye Movement
Overthinking shows up in the movement of the eyes. Smooth, slow, easy eye movement leads to clearer vision and enhanced thinking.
Integrative Movement
Learn how when the movement of the eyes feels connected to the rest of you - spine, pelvis, feet, etc. - everything gets easier.
Effortless Twisting
The act of seeing involves the movement of twisting and turning to look at something. Learn options for how to organize this movement with clarity and ease.
Hand-Eye Connections
Learn about the intimate links between your eyes and your hands, and how the more knowledge and possibility in this area leads to profound changes in your movement, posture and organization.
New Patterns
Your eyes move - and don't move - in habitual ways. Learning how to move your eyes in new ways opens up new realms in movement and in life.
Letting Go
Learn how to let go of patterns of muscular emotional tension and stress and cultivate the option of using less effort.

"As a professional dancer, this lesson helped me find my center more easily and opened my hips in ways I hadn't experienced before.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much my body's habitual tension, especially in my neck and shoulders, was released through these gentle, deliberate movements. "

"Dealing with tension in my upper back and neck, the Feldenkrais lesson provided a noticeable improvement in my posture.
I felt 're-calibrated' after the lesson. My shoulders moved more freely, and I experienced a newfound lightness in my spine. This method has been the best thing for my back in years."

"With over 20 years in bodywork, I thought I knew my body well. But the Feldenkrais method brought new insights and unlocked parts of my body I didn't realize were tight.
The lessons, especially those focusing on the hip and sacral area, were transformational. I noticed significant improvements in flexibility and a reduction in lower back pain."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Feldenkrais® Method?
Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® is a method of self-improvement created by Moshe Feldenkrais that integrates principles from somatics, human development, physics, learning theory, and neuroscience to improve your abilities to think, sense, feel, move, and organize yourself for effective action.
Each lesson is designed to leave you with improved self-knowledge, a greater sense of ease and lightness, less pain and strain, a calmer nervous system, and better functioning of your entire self.

How does the Feldenkrais® Method work?
By attuning your awareness to movements and sensations, you catalyze the brain's capacity to forge new neural connections, a process known as "neuroplasticity." Neuroplasticity is stimulated by directing your attention towards new movement possibilities in a precise, gentle and exploratory way. This remarkable brain function underpins all forms of learning.
As you refine your movement strategies, you'll notice enhancements in various aspects of your being including balance, breath, coordination, flexibility, mental acuity, vitality and overall well-being. In this way, the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education works to help people all over the world grow and develop their neuroplastic potential.

What does a Lesson entail?
Lessons are typically 45 minutes to an hour long. The lesson will require you to listen carefully to a set of verbal instructions, leading you through several different positions and movement explorations. Most lessons are done lying on a yoga mat on the floor but some are done sitting on a chair or standing. During the course of the lesson, you will be asked to pay attention to the very beginning of every movement and listen to your sensations.
The point of the lesson is not to “get it right” or do the movement “correctly,” but instead to figure out where the movement comes from in yourself, build awareness around your habitual ways of acting, and explore new options while get accustomed to slowing down and doing less. It’s an opportunity to build a stronger mind-body connection and learn how to better organize movement within yourself. You will walk away feeling longer, lighter and with new possibilities for movement available to you.

How is this different from physical therapy?
Physical therapy takes what you can't do and makes an exercise out of it. Most physical therapy exercises are based on strength conditioning and address isolated symptoms.Feldenkrais® works to change your habitual ways of moving, which are seen as the root causes of pain and strain. The Method works by engaging the brain, not only the muscles, in a process of learning how to sense effort and organize movement within yourself. It starts with what's working well and focuses on integrating efficient use of the skeleton to improve entire patterns of movement.
